Where Was Home Alone Filmed? Where is the Real House Located?

The DC-10 that flew the McCallisters to Paris in the first film was a -10 series, identified by only two central landing gears, which in real-life is only used on domestic flights. The -10 series has a range of only 3500 miles, making it impossible to do transatlantic services. The DC and -40 series are the only DC-10s that have a transatlantic range. The McCallister family flew on Paris on the airline's McDonnell Douglas DC-10.

The myth was even brought up on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, when Macaulay Culkin appeared as a guest . Although the “Elvis” myth was mentioned, it wasn’t actually addressed by the actor. I eventually came across a YouTube video entitled “Elvis Presley in Home Alone DEBUNKED” , that claimed to have done just that … debunked the myth. John Stiller, who created the video, points to a comment made on the website Behind the Curtain, a weekly blog by conspiracy fiction author C.R.

I explained what I was doing and that my research had led to his father most likely being the actor. I expressed my hope they could give me some confirmation either way. I was delighted when Roman responded to me the next day and was enthusiastic to talk about his father.

The O'Hare-Orly flight in the movie takes place in the morning as opposed to being an early evening flight in real-life. Special thanks to the family of Gary Grott for speaking with me and sharing Gary’s story with all of us. I followed the work Stiller referenced and found the Facebook page of Gary Grott. I searched through his public photos and although there were none that dated to 1990, it seemed to be the same man that appeared in Home Alone. I compared several images side-by-side with a screenshot of “Home Alone Elvis.” Although several years older, the facial features, hair style, and thick beard matched up. The airport from which the family leaves is, of course, O’Hare International Airport.

REVIEW: DC's Danger Street #1

This man, many believe, is Elvis Presley—despite that fact that Elvis passed away thirteen years earlier, in 1977. Kevin's uncle Rob and aunt Georgette have a townhouse on 95th Street between Central Park West and Columbus Avenue. He finds the address in his dad's contacts, which were in the backpack, but after seeking refuge there earlier, realizes that no one is home and the house is undergoing a gut renovation. This brownstone is where Kevin leads Harry and Marv the night of the toy store robbery in order to test the limits of physical comedy for a PG movie by enacting all kinds of bodily harm upon the hapless villains. The airport sequence where Kevin’s family hurries to make their plane and the subsequent scenes at Paris Airport were all filmed at the O’Hare International Airport in Chicago. Filming for certain scenes in ‘Home Alone’ also took place on location across various venues in Illinois.

At the end of the segment the STS cohosts, Romero in particular, discussed the possibility of looking into the identity of the actor. However, Radford says “maybe Kenny Biddle will jump on it and get it done before this episode is out! Harry and Marv hang by Wollman Rink, located at the southern end of Central Park, a spot that's usually a bit crowded but definitely worth checking out during the holiday season in the Big Apple.

Speaking of cameos, despite rumors that made the rounds in 2019, it was incorrect to suggest that Donald Trump's cameo was cut from "Home Alone 2" for Canadian audiences after he began his campaign for president in 2015. We previously reported that the scene was cut for time for Canadian television as early as 2014, and the decision did not appear to be politically motivated. "Home Alone 2" sends young Kevin McCallister, portrayed by Macaulay Culkin, to New York City, while his family flies to spend Christmas in Miami. When Kevin's family lands in Miami, they realize that they've lost Kevin. Flight information board in San Francisco International Airport (filmed at Chicago O'Hare International Airport).

And to add to his wonderful legacy, he was also the little known extra at the center of one of the most famous movie myths of all time. Kevin makes a 911 call from an Upper West Side phone booth and tells the dispatcher that the thieves who robbed Duncan's Toy Chest will be in the park at 95th Street. "Look for fireworks. They've got a gun." Then he slips on ice, and the dastardly duo walks him into the park. Ultimately, the Pigeon Lady throws feed onto the very sticky Sticky Bandits, swarms of pigeons peck away, and Kevin is able to set off fireworks to alert the police to their presence.

Grinning, Kevin leans out the rear window in his striped winter hat, and you get the feeling that his Ferris Bueller's Day Off is about to begin. Touched by the plea, Ed and Irene decided to take her up on her offer and decided to wait to go home on Friday while Kate took their flight to Dallas, where she hoped to find a flight home to Chicago. Rows of AA aircraft at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport (filmed at O'Hare). Kate McCallister abruptly stops at Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Airport on a DC-10. The largest planes to land at Scranton are Boeing 737's and Airbus A320s. Scranton has never had regular service from a DC-10 by any airline and that DC-10's are too large for the airport for non-emergency situations.

An eight-year-old troublemaker must protect his house from a pair of burglars when he is accidentally left home alone by his family during Christmas vacation. If you were wondering where was ‘Home Alone’ filmed, here’s everything we know. It's unknown if Freeform or 20th Century Fox edited out part of the Twin Towers scene. The scene was not edited out of the complete version of the film that can be streamed on Disney+. But one scene from "Home Alone 2" did not play in full on the Freeform channel, and it appeared to be cut in previous years' showings. It depicted Kevin on the "Top of the World" observation deck atop one of the World Trade Center's twin towers, which were destroyed nearly 10 years later in the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

Home Alone actor Senta Moses Mikan spoke on how long the O'Hare Airport scene took to film and how chaotic the experience was. Kevin springs by the Van Cleef and Arpels store on Fifth Avenue, and hurriedly stops to buy a few necklaces off a street vendor. At the Miami airport, security tells Kevin's parents it's unlikely he'll be anywhere but still stuck in Chicago. The camera pans to the South Street Seaport's erstwhile Fulton Fish Market . A backpack-toting Kevin crosses the street; meanwhile a white truck makes a turn, honks at him, and rolls up the back to reveal Harry and Marv. They're recently out of prison and stowing away with a shipment of seafood on ice.

At first, Kevin is having a blast being home alone, watching old movies while having an entire pizza all to himself. But then two burglars show up in the neighborhood, played by Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern. Much mayhem and shenanigans follow as Kevin constructs ingenious booby traps all over the house. O’Hare Airport is without a doubt the most beautiful airport during the holiday season, so naturally, this is where the iconic running-through-the-airport scene in Home Alone was shot. According to cast members and the production team, this was one of the most hectic scenes to shoot, which makes a decent amount of sense given that you're combining an already-stressful airport with an entire film crew and cast.

After a short text conversation, we made arrangements to speak later that night. The Plaza Hotel is most prominent in the sequel, Home Alone 2, as the film showcases the concierge lobby and Suite Room 411, where Kevin stayed, though the room has since been remodeled. While it depicts the Plaza Hotel as where the family reunites at the end of the film, the suite was actually shot at the Conrad Hilton Suite in Chicago. The 5,000-square-foot suite is two floors and costs more than $7,000 per night. To celebrate the film's 30th anniversary, Home Alone star Senta Moses Mikan spoke about what it was like filming the holiday classic. Kevin is coming from the park, headed to his accommodation for the night.

A detailed account of Radford’s exchange can be found in the January/February issue of Skeptical Inquirer magazine . The man to the right of Catherine O’Hara in the back of the line is believed by conspiracy theorists to be Elvis Presley, alive and well. Mikan revealed that the short yet memorable scene took days to film in the busy Chicago airport.
