The -10 series has a range of only 3500 miles, making it impossible to do transatlantic services. The DC and -40 series are the only DC-10s that have a transatlantic range. The O'Hare-Orly flight in the movie takes place in the morning as opposed to being an early evening flight in real-life. Special thanks to the family of Gary Grott for speaking with me and sharing Gary’s story with all of us. I followed the work Stiller referenced and found the Facebook page of Gary Grott. I searched through his public photos and although there were none that dated to 1990, it seemed to be the same man that appeared in Home Alone. I compared several images side-by-side with a screenshot of “Home Alone Elvis.” Although several years older, the facial features, hair style, and thick beard matched up. The airport from which the family leaves is, of course, O’Hare International Airport.

This man, many believe, is Elvis Presley—despite that fact that Elvis passed away thirteen years earlier, in 1977. Kevin's uncle Rob and aunt Georgette have a townhouse on 95th Street between Central Park West and Columbus Avenue. He finds the address in his dad's contacts, which were in the backpack, but after seeking refuge there earlier, realizes that no one is home and the house is undergoing a gut renovation. This brownstone is where Kevin leads Harry and Marv the night of the toy store robbery in order to test the limits of physical comedy for a PG movie by enacting all kinds of bodily harm upon the hapless villains. The airport sequence where Kevin’s family hurries to make their plane and the subsequent scenes at Paris Airport were all filmed at the O’Hare International Airport in Chicago. Filming for certain scenes in ‘Home Alone’ also took place on location across various venues in Illinois.
At the end of the segment the STS cohosts, Romero in particular, discussed the possibility of looking into the identity of the actor. However, Radford says “maybe Kenny Biddle will jump on it and get it done before this episode is out! O’Hare Airport is without a doubt the most beautiful airport during the holiday season, so naturally, this is where the iconic running-through-the-airport scene in Home Alone was shot. According to cast members and the production team, this was one of the most hectic scenes to shoot, which makes a decent amount of sense given that you're combining an already-stressful airport with an entire film crew and cast.

The Plaza Hotel is most prominent in the sequel, Home Alone 2, as the film showcases the concierge lobby and Suite Room 411, where Kevin stayed, though the room has since been remodeled. While it depicts the Plaza Hotel as where the family reunites at the end of the film, the suite was actually shot at the Conrad Hilton Suite in Chicago. The 5,000-square-foot suite is two floors and costs more than $7,000 per night. To celebrate the film's 30th anniversary, Home Alone star Senta Moses Mikan spoke about what it was like filming the holiday classic.
